So – - I really enjoyed the advice that my friend, Amy, gave me in my last blog, “Meal Planning for the Family”. I could see myself trying this technique. But I needed some menu ideas. So I have turned to a wonderful chef at a hotel I frequent on business trips and asked him to share a few kid-friendly, nutritious recipes. I also was thrilled to discover that the hotel can actually make these entrées for my kids when we visit. Welcome Chef James Lauser, from the Hilton Christiana in Delaware.

I must have been asleep during Home-Ec in High School. I remember muffin making day and the time I sewed an apron that turned out so badly my Barbie couldn’t even wear it. But I must have been absent on Meal Planning day. I was actually shocked to learn that some mothers sit down once a week and plan out the whole week of meals. They only go to the grocery store once a week and they have a cabinet in their homes called “a cupboard.” Fascinating.

The crazy red carpet interviews, the classy ball gowns, gorgeous men in tuxedos, what’s not to love about the Academy Awards?
My friends and I look forward to watching the Oscars every year. Maybe we just use the Oscars as another excuse for us to get together, but we really do have a blast! We gather around the television, usually in pajama pants and sweatshirts, with our ice cream in one hand and a glass of wine in the other

As a mom, I worry about what my kids eat….or rather, the lack of what they should eat. We travel a lot due to my career and we eat out a lot. It is almost a habit. When I am home, I am out of the routine of planning good, quality meals. My first clue I was failing in the “feeding your kids the correct way” category was when the doorbell rang the other evening and my five-year-old shouted, “Pizza Man!” It was actually the next door neighbor dropping off a Fed Ex package delivered to her by mistake.

I just loooove my Clemmies. I’ve just knocked off my umpteenth little cute crate of these citrus gems and thought I’d share some thoughts about ‘em.
Right around the first week of November each year, I begin having nightly Thanksgiving ‘food porn’ dreams in anticipation of that most glorious of holidays. And right on the threshold of those dreams I also begin eagerly anticipating the annual arrival of the Clementine.

The family was traveling this weekend. We had a little getaway for a sporting event and stayed in a Hilton. It was sold out and the only room left for us was a large handicap accessible room. My two boys ran in to explore the room as they always do – - checking things like the games on the television, whether it is a flat screen or not, soap and shampoo and any little extras…always declaring successful discoveries like, “Mom – you’re okay. They have a coffee pot!”
This past weekend a few of my girlfriends and I went on a ski and snowboard trip. We usually try to plan something at least once a year, if not more, for a few days on the hill together. Since we live in all different states, and have completely different work schedules, it’s amazing we even find the time to get together. We make it a point to though because nothing is more exhilarating than jumping on your skis or snowboard, with the wind whipping behind you as you fly down the ski slope – Free as a bird!
